Trust Anushka Sharma when it comes to giving us wedding outfit inspo. Everytime we spot the actress attending someone’s wedding or her own wedding for that matter we only save her looks for some inspiration. She surely knows how to make heads turn and she did exactly that for her own wedding.
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli tied the knot in 2017 in an intimate ceremony in Tuscany, Italy. Their wedding was like a fairytale we must say. Even though their fans were disappointed for keeping the wedding a hush-hush affair, their wedding pictures won millions of hearts. From the mehendi, engagement to wedding and reception the two set major couple goals for all their functions in color coordinated outfits.
Anushka and Virat wore India’s favourite designer Sabyasachi, each and every look was curated by the ace designer himself. And even though it has been almost four years to the #Virushka wedding, Anushka’s wedding looks are still the talk of the town and many brides are using it as their inspiration whenever they go for wedding shopping, and why not as the actress looked nothing but a dream in all her wedding functions. Anushka managed to keep all her looks different yet gorgeous. Let’s take a look at all her wedding ensembles.
Let’s start with Anushka’s mehendi look. For her mehendi Anushka chose to go full boho with bright colors. She wore a hot pink and Indian orange graphic lehenga, hand-printed by the famed Calcutta block printers and hand-embroidered with gota and marori with a beautiful sixties pop print and silkscreen printed blouse. Anushka accessorised her look with earrings from designer Sabyasachi’s Heritage Jewelry collection, a stunning pair of jhumkas crafted in 22k gold with Iranian turquoise, tourmalines, uncut diamonds and Japanese cultured pearls. She finished her look with custom-made hand woven brocade and zardosi juttis. While she picked center separated straight hair with filled in brows and a clean face for her makeup. We must say Anushka’s mehendi look was all things fresh and colorful.
Who doesn’t like vintage and Anushka definitely knows how to carry this look. For her ring ceremony the actress wore a classic Sabyasachi velvet saree, in the designer’s signature Gulkand Burgundy color. The saree was hand-embroidered using miniature pearls and the finest quality zardosi and marori. Anushka paired her saree with a stunning uncut diamond and pearl choker with matching studs. She opted for smokey eyes, nude lips, a middle parting bun with red roses and the iconic small dot bindi of the same color as her saree. The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil actress looked elegant as ever for this pre-wedding function.
Now let’s talk about the, oh so dreamy wedding look! For her wedding attire Anushka chose a pale pink lehenga with renaissance embroidery in vintage English colours embellished with silver-gold metal thread, pearls and beads. She accessorized her look with bridal jewellery handcrafted with syndicate uncut diamonds, pale pink spinel and baroque Japanese cultured pearls from Sabyasachi’s Heritage Jewelry collection. For her makeup the actress opted for light makeup with nude lips and for her hair she went with a middle parting bun covered with light pink roses. Anushka’s entire look had an old-school charm to it which we loved and the couple even coordinated their wedding looks. And as soon as the couple shared their wedding pictures it went viral all over the internet. Ever since Anushka’s wedding look was shared we have seen so many brides go with pastel or light color lehengas and each of them looks stunning.
After wearing pastel for her wedding Anushka chose the traditional color red for her Delhi reception. We saw the actress wear a classic red Benarasi saree with rich gold weaves which marks the beauty of this particular type of sari. Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee explained, “I don’t think Indian brides feel complete without wearing the colour red in one of their functions. I was particularly excited about this look because I have seen an entire generation of Bengali women getting married in red Banarasi sarees.” The sari was woven in the by-lanes of Peeli Kothi in Benaras. The silk Banarasi sari was worn over a red blouse with gold embellishments on the sleeves. Anushka accessorized with a beautiful gold and diamond choker and jhumkas along with gold kadas. She chose nude pink lips with kohl eyes. Paired with a red bindi and sindoor, the whole look gave us full new-bride vibes. The Anushka's hair was centre parted and tied back into a bun with a gajra that finished her look perfectly.
Moving on to the last and final look, the star studded Mumbai reception. The couple hosted a reception at The St. Regis on December 21st, 2017 for all their industry friends and Indian cricketers. After a boho look for Mehendi, a vintage look for ring ceremony, a beautiful pale pink lehenga for the wedding and a traditional Banarasi saree for her Delhi reception, Anushka was seen in a smokey grey embroidered tulle lehenga, paired with a statement belt by the designer himself. Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee said “For her Mumbai reception, Anushka wanted to wear old-world glamour. And we decided to jazz it up in smoky grey. Award-winning master craftsmen from Lucknow rendered her stunning dupatta, which was cinched on the waist with our ‘Bengal tiger' belt.” She accessorised her look with a choker necklace and earrings hand-crafted with rose cut diamonds, solitaires and briolettes from the Sabyasachi Fine Jewelry collection, pairing it with a red chooda, Anushka gave us full princess vibes. She kept her hair gloriously natural with soft waves, paired smokey eyes with stained pale lips and just the right amount of pink blusher for vintage flushed cheeks.
Even though wearing the same designer could be monotonous, Anushka made sure to balance all her looks and look nothing but regal. This is exactly why we still can’t get over all her wedding ensembles. It's been more than a couple of years that the actress got married, however, her wedding and the wedding wardorbe is something that still remains fresh in people's mind.
