Police: Two men arrested after they tried to steal items worth $1,200 from Hayden Walmart

HAYDEN, Idaho (CBS2) Police say two men were arrested on Saturday after attempting to leave a Walmart in Hayden without paying for a shopping cart full of items worth over $1,200. At around 1:30 p.m., the Walmart located at 550 W. Honeysuckle Ave. reported a possible theft in progress.

At around 1:30 p.m., the Walmart located at 550 W. Honeysuckle Ave. reported a possible theft in progress.

Deputies arrived on the scene and found two men removing items from the cart into a U-haul van.

Police say The two men were Levi J. Dublin, 20, and Tyler R. Pritchard, 40, both from Spokane, Washington.

Police searched the U-Haul as Pritchard was seen trying to hide items under the wheel well. Officers found drug paraphernalia in the van along with a suitcase containing several hundred dollars’ worth of stolen merchandise.

Dublin and Pritchard were booked on various drug charges, conspiracy to commit burglary, burglary, burglary tools, and grand theft. Police say Dublin also had felony warrants out of Spokane for theft.

Police say In addition to the theft, the two are suspects of other Walmart thefts from all three local Walmarts as well as Walmarts in Spokane.

Deputies from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Post Falls PD was notified about the theft suspects being located and identified.
